Description
Deutsch: Die Kugelbake ist eine 1932 auf Borkum errichtete Peilbake, ein Tageslichtzeichen für die Seeschifffahrt.

Die Kugelbake bestand aus Holz. Auf einem vierfüßigen Bockgerüst, dessen obere Hälfte mit einem Lattenrost versehen ist, saß das 4 Meter große Balltoppzeichen. Das Bauwerk war insgesamt 19,60 Meter hoch bzw. 23 Meter über dem mittleren Hochwasser. Im Jahr 2000 hätte das hölzerne Bauwerk umfassend erneuert werden müssen. Doch hierfür fehlten die finanzielle Mittel. So wurde die Kugelbake durch das WSA Emden vollständig abgebaut. Heute steht hier ein 2001 errichteter Nachbau der damaligen Kugelbake und eine Hinweistafel. Das Balltoppzeichen existiert noch im Original. Es steht auf dem Kinderspielplatz des Restaurants im Yachthafen bei N 53° 33.530' E 006° 44.680'
