Rückseite: GEGRÜNDET ZU BERLIN 1836 ZU MOABIT 1847. Eine vor der Borsig-Fabrik sitzende Frau hält in der linken Hand einen Lorbeerkranz, in der rechten eine Lokomotive, vor ihr taucht die Spreegöttin auf. Im Abschnitt Medailleursignatur W KULLRICH INV ET FEC.

Kommentar: Die Medaille wurde von Wilhelm Kullrich anlässlich des Todes von August Borsig im Auftrag der Familie geschaffen. Wilhelm Kullrich war mit einer Nichte des Eisenbahnkönigs verheiratet. In der Stempelsammlung des Berliner Münzkabinetts werden die Bildpatrizen zu den Prägestempeln dieser Medaille aus dem Besitz des Medailleurs aufbewahrt. - Johann Friedrich August Borsig, 1804 in Breslau geboren und 1854 in Berlin gestorben, gründete 1836 an der Chausseestraße vor dem Oranienburger Tor in Berlin seine Maschinenbauanstalt. Neben dem Bau von Dampfmaschinen und Fertigung von Eisengussteilen wurde er vor allem durch seine Lokomotiven berühmt.
