日本語: ムモンハビロキバガの幼虫頭部の模様はほぼ左右対称で、歌舞伎役者の｢隈取り｣に似る。

蛾類図鑑の多くは｢雲の模様｣と形容するが、｢雲形紋｣でグーグル検索を掛けても似た模様には行き当らない。検索結果の古くからの家紋等の意匠では全く別系統のデザインと成っている印象を受ける。歌舞伎の役柄には独特の隈取りをもつ｢土蜘蛛｣があり、その印象から幼虫の頭部の模様を｢蜘蛛｣と表現した日本人研究者がいたとして、それが他の研究者には｢雲｣と誤伝承したものが活字に成り現在も継承されているのではないかと推測する。｢土蜘蛛｣の｢かぶりもの｣の蜘蛛脚はちょうどこの写真の幼虫の脚の様でもある。撮影者は当初名前も判らなかったこの幼虫の写真を拡大したとき｢すごい隈取りだ｣と感動した位なので模様の形容表現は｢隈取り｣説を推す。

この写真の個体では、幼虫の口を歌舞伎役者の口とした場合、鼻、二つの目、頬と法令線、髪の生え際､剃込み などが見えてくる。
