Former Kumara Swimming Pool, Kumara, Westland, New Zealand

Summary[edit]

Description
English: The swimming baths at Kumara, between Greymouth and Hokitika, were built in 1934 by men unemployed during the Great Depression. They were part of a complex that included a basketball court and cricket pitch. Walled with boulders from old mine tailings, they were 50 by 33 yards, from 3'6" to 6'6" deep. It was closed in the 1940s.
