English: The French region of Alsace sculptured by Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi. The statue symbolize the Alsace defeated after the war of 1870 against Prussia. The statue holds the caduceus symbol of trade tilted downwards. The cogwheels, symbol of industry are broken on the ground. But her serene contenance continue to express hope. Museum of history in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin, France).
