DescriptionLübeck - Rathaus (1960).jpg |
The Rathaus (city hall) in Lübeck was built over many centuries, beginning in either in the 12th century, or shortly after Lübeck became a free city of the Holy Roman Empire, in 1226. I took this photo in the inner courtyard, where markets are held on some days. The red BMW 501 or 502 is from Bergisch Gladbach, near Cologne. The Borgward Isabella is registered in Eutin, just north of Lübeck. The car in the background looks like a Mercedes 180 or 190. All three look like they are regularly washed, perhaps by drivers. The EUT registration has disappeared in local government consolidation. Borgward ceased operations in 1961. |
