Description
English: Image extracted from the Georges-Calonghi - Dizionario della lingua latina - Latino-Italiano, 1896, by Karl Ernst Georges and Ferruccio Calonghi, depicting the w:Roman numeral L (50), repeted two times. According to Georges, this is the origin of the symbol C as the Roman numeral for 100 (L+L, or 50+50). Extracted and cut out from the djvu file of the dictionary, page 341.
