Summary
[edit]DescriptionLMS Stanier '5XP' or 'Jubilee' Class (BR Class '6P') 4-6-0 No.45690 'Leander' - 21758471549.jpg |
English: LMS Stanier '5XP' or 'Jubilee' Class (BR Class '6P') 4-6-0 No.45690 'Leander' (LMS No.5593) (LMS Crewe No.288 of 1936) in BR lined black and 1949 totem at Barrow Hill Roundhouse, 26 September 2015. Although Brunswick Green was the standard BR livery for 'Jubilees' (and other express classes), before that livery was adopted BR painted several locos in experimental liveries for comparison purposes; 'Leander' and a few other 'Jubilees' were painted in LNWR lined black livery with 'BRITISH RAILWAYS' in pale yellow/straw on the tender. In the event, this livery, although with a new BR totem on the tender, was adopted in 1949 for mixed traffic and secondary passenger classes. Thus, 'Leander's' livery as illustrated is authentic apart from the tender totem. |
