La bibliothèque Gennadius est une des plus importantes de Grèce, elle appartient à l'École américaine d'études classiques d'Athènes <a href="http://www.ascsa.edu.gr/index.php/gennadius/" rel="nofollow">www.ascsa.edu.gr/index.php/gennadius/</a>

L'école américaine des études classiques a été fondée à Athènes en 1881 par des universités américaines et des mécènes. Son but est la connaissance du monde grec depuis l'Antiquité à nos jours.

L'institution dispose d'un centre de recherche archéologiques, d'importantes bibliothèques, de laboratoires, d'un campus universitaire et d'une salle de spectacles : le Cotsen Hall , ouvert en 2005, dans le quartier Kolonaki, le plus résidentiel d'Athènes, au pied de la colline du Lycabette.
