English: Lake Shikotsu, Hokkaido, Japan October 2, 2016
  • Lake Shikotsu—which fills a caldera formed 40,000 years ago—is located on Japan's northernmost island Hokkaido. Despite its latitude, the body of water remains ice-free year round, attracting tourists and residents alike to gaze at the reflections of Mount Eniwa (top), Mount Monbetsu (right), and Mount Fuppushi (bottom).
