Deutsch: Bei einem Flug zwischen Dübendorf bei Zürich über Böblingen nach Berlin, stürzte die Curtiss AT-32C Condor II CH-170 der Swissair am 27. Juli 1934 gegen 9:50 Uhr hier ab, auch wenn die Uhrzeit auf der Gedenktafel anderes behauptet .
Alle zwölf Insassen kamen ums Leben, darunter Europas erste Flugbegleiterin, Nelly Diener. Nelly Hedwig Diener hatten den Beinamen "Engel der Lüfte", da sie dafür bekannt war, die meist ängstlichen Passagiere mit selbst zubereitenen Speisen und Getränken zu versorgen und durch Kartenspiele, Singen und Jodeln usw. abzulenken. Die Absturzursache des erst drei Monate alten Flugzeugs ist nicht abschließend geklärt, offenbar waren Materialermüdung, mangelhafte Verschweißungen und starke Motorvibrationen maßgeblich. |
