Description
English: Ordinary Stock certificate of the Landore Siemens-Steel Company, Limited of £1,000, issued on 22 January 1883, originally signed by Carl Wilhelm Siemens. The company was founded in 1869 by Carl Wilhelm Siemens, a brother of the founder of the German electrical and telecommunications conglomerate Siemens, Werner von Siemens. The share capital was £60,000. The company owned a steelworks at Landore, near Swansea in Wales. In 1871, the company had a weekly production of 1,000 tons of steel. In 1888, five years after the death of Carl Wilhelm Siemens, the company went into voluntary liquidation. The factory was taken over by the American locomotive builder Messrs. Baldwin & Co.
