The larvae of Strongyloides stercoralis, a parasitic nematode (roundworm), can be detected in a saline wet mount of stool microscopy when examining a patient's stool sample for signs of infection

Summary[edit]

Description
English: The laboratory technician will look for the characteristic features of Strongyloides larvae, which may include the following:

Rhabditiform Larvae: Strongyloides larvae have a rhabditiform morphology, which means they have a slender, elongated body with a prominent buccal cavity (mouth) and a prominent, rod-like esophagus. Size: The size of Strongyloides larvae can vary, but they are generally small and can be difficult to see without proper magnification. They are typically smaller than many other parasitic worms.

Movement: Strongyloides larvae may exhibit characteristic wriggling or serpentine movement under the microscope.
