Description
English: Scenic cultural landscape along upper river Lauchert, Swabian Alb. Part of this landscape in Hausen an der Lauchert is a law-protected biotope. The terraces used to be agrarian lands. Hedges were clearance cairns.

Die Stauden und Holzgewächse im Bild ganz vorne gehören zum Rinnsal der Lauchert. Der Neigungswinkel der Terrassenhänge lässt auf holozäne Epochen erheblich wasserreicherer Zustände schließen. Die Lauchert, ihre Bachsäume, die ganze dritte Stufe und alle Stufensäume und -Gebüsche sind als wertvolle Biotope geschützt (Offenland § 32 NatSchG).
Die Stufen sind durch Hecken gegliedert. Die Hecken sind auf alten Steinriegeln und nicht ackerbaulich nutzbaren Streifen allmählich gewachsen. Ackerbau in früheren Jahrhunderten wurde kleinstrukturiert und auch auf Flächen betrieben, die in mechanisierter Landwirtschaft unrentabel sind. Steine in der Ackerkrume wurden in Steinriegeln gesammelt. Das diente der Ertragssicherung, dem Erosionsschutz und ggf. auch der Besitzgliederung.
