| Description |
English: "Entroido de Laza" or the Carnival of Laza is one of the most traditional and ancient Carnival celebrations in Spain. It takes place in the small town of Laza in the Ourense province of Galicia, Spain. One of the most famous figures from this celebration is the "Peliqueiro". Men and women dressed with animal-like headdress and masks with devilish smiles roam the streets before and during Carnival with cowbells attached to their wastes creating a deafening clamor wherever they go. They carry old wooden whips and attack anyone unlucky enough to get in their way. Crowds cheer and children scream when they hear these mysterious figures approaching.
