Description

Quercus sp. in Bures-sur-Yvette
Le chêne du "Petit Launay" (l'aulnoye), remarquable pas sa dimension et la répartition de ses branches, semble remonter au XVeme siècle.
Les organisateurs de l'exposition Universelle de 1900 à Paris désiraient le transporter dans la capitale, ce qui atteste de l'intérêt que présentait déjà cet Arbre. Mr Grisier, maire de Bures et propriétaire du "Petit Launay" déclina heureusement cette offre.
Ce domaine, ancien fief du XIVème siècle, est davantage connu, depuis 1810, sous le nom de "La Vierge". Une statuette est toujours visible sur le mur d'enceinte de la propriété. Il est traversé par le Vaularon, affluent de l'Yvette, d'où l'humidité propice à la croissance des aulnes.
Cet arbre a été classé dans la liste des "arbres vénérables en France".
