Description

Le chat qui dort (sleeping cat / Nemuri-neko) protège la porte d'entrée de la tombe du shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa dans le sanctuaire shinto de Nikko au Japon

Au dos de cette sculpture, deux hirondelles ont été sculptées.

Le chat et l'hirondelle symbolisent la force et la fragilité à l'image de la période de paix qu'a connue le Japon grâce au shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa après des siècles de guerre civile.

L'artiste qui a réalisé cette sculpture, comme beaucoup d'autres visibles sur les bâtiments du sanctuaire, est Hidari Jingorô (1584-1644) <a href="https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidari_Jingor%c5%8d" rel="nofollow">fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidari_Jingor%C5%8D</a>
