Lecanora xylophila Hue Photograph of a herbarium specimen taken through a dissecting microscope (x16), showing a yellowish thallus and apothecia with dark red-brown, shiny disks. Lecanora xylophila was growing on a small rock in Chandler Bay, off Kelley Point Road, Jonesport, Washington County, Maine, USA (Lat. 44o31.9' N, Long. 67o34.5' W). Collected by Dr. David H.S. Richardson, and identified by E.C. Uebel (No. U-170, 14 Jun 2001). [Chemical spot tests on thallus: K+ yellow, C-, PD-] [Numerous small crystals in amphithecium] |
