This photograph shows the vice regal party retiring from the chamber of the Legislative Council following the opening of the Second Session of the Twenty-Ninth Parliament on Thursday 6 July 1939. The Parliament was opened by the Lieutentant-Governor, Sir George Murray. The East Wing of Parliament House, which contains the Legislative Council chamber, was constructed between 1934 and 1939. The older West Wing had opened in 1889. |
