| Description |
English: Norwegian post-rock prog-punk band Leprous bought their special brand of infectious energy to the Assembly Rooms as second on the bill for the K Scope showcase night. Mad on stage antics similar to Van Halen, with a healthy dose of punk aggression ensured an entertaining set drawn mainly from their excellent new album "Coal". The opening track "Foe" and the anthemic "Echo" were crowd pleasers on the night. They may dress like The Stranglers circa 1985, their quiff cuts are pure rock 'n' roll, but the bass driven pumped out sound of Leprous is the perfect showcase for the extraordinary vocal dexterity of manic front man Einar Solberg, the only keyboard player I've ever seen head-banging on stage whilst still playing! Ably supported by guitarists Tor Oddmund Suhrke
& Øystein Landsverk it is the rhythm section that powers Leprous along driven by the thundrous drumming of Baard Kolstad and sleek bass lines ofMartin Skrebergene. Such shame so few turned out to see this extraordinary band. |
