Title |
Lincoln Hotel, Seattle Public Library and Elliott Bay, ca. 1906 |
||||||||||||||||||||
Description |
The Lincoln Hotel (in the center) was constructed in 1900 and destroyed in a fire in 1920. The Carnegie Central Library (at right) was designed by P.J. Weber and opened in 1906. Buildings visible at the left include Frederick and Nelson in the Rialto Building, The Cordray's Theatre and the First Methodist Episcopal Church at 3rd Ave. and Madison St. Contrary to Seattle Public Library's description, that is not First Methodist Episcopal Church. It's the 1877 Seattle First Presbyterian Church. The congregation had moved on by this time; not sure who may have been using it at this date, but for a while it housed a Baptist church.
