Monument at the spot where Lindbergh's plane took off for his solo trans-atlantic flight in 1927

Summary[edit]

Description
English: About a mile from Long Island's 'Cradle of Aviation Museum', the Lindbergh Flight Memorial, commemorates and marks the spot where, on a foggy morning, May 20, 1927, Lindbergh's plane, "The Spirit of St. Louis", had bounced a second time and finally left the ground. His next stop, thirty-three and a half hours later, was Paris, France.

The monument is near the intersection of Source Mall Drive and Transverse Drive in Garden City, New York.

The granite bas-relief sculpture by Chris Pelletieri was funded by Alan Fortunoff, former owner of the adjoining shopping mall.
