Description
English: Alexander Numan (7 December 1789 – 1 September 1852), Dutch professor of veterinary medicine, teacher and writer. He was Director of the Rijksveeartsenijschool (National School of Veterinary Medicine) in Utrecht between 1821 and 1851. The original caption of the lithograph states: "ALEXANDER NUMAN, Med. Doct. Directeur en Hoogleeraar aan 't Rijks Vee-artsenijschool, te Utrecht, Lid van het Koninklijk-Nederlandsche Instituut enz." ["ALEXANDER NUMAN, Doctor of Medicine. Director and Professor at the National School of Veterinary Medicine, in Utrecht, member of the Royal Dutch Institute etc."].
Nederlands: Alexander Numan (Baflo, 7 December 1789 – Utrecht, 1 September 1852) was een Nederlandse hoogleraar, schooldirecteur en schrijver, die in Nederland van bijzondere betekenis is geweest voor de ontwikkeling van de diergeneeskunde.
