DescriptionLiving Goddess, Kumari House Basantapur Hanumandhoka Durbar Square Kathmandu Nepal Rajesh Dhungana (8).jpg |
English: To the south of the famous Hanumandhoka Durbar Square in Kathmandu, i.e. to the south in front of Basantapur Durbar, a very artistic style Kumari house. This artistic house where the living Goddess Kumari lived was built by King Jai Prakash Malla in the year 1813 BS. The Bahi is called Bihar where monks live. Bahal refers to Bihar where a married monk lives. Kumari is one of the unique and very important living goddess of Nepal. This goddess is taken as the incarnation of Taleju Bhavani.
The house where this Kumari (living goddess) lives is not only artistic from outside, but also highly artistic inside. It is an excellent example of wood carving. The windows, doors, bardali, ceilings, pillars, etc. are the best examples of woodwork. Local and foreign tourists flock to see the living art of this living Kumari. Observe with great interest that all the artistic woods used here are painted with oily black color and look very shiny. Tourists are amazed to see the excellent woodwork here. |
