Summary
[edit]DescriptionLondon Central LDP4 P504 RYM.jpg |
English: A London bus, No. LDP4 (P504 RYM), a Dennis Dart SLF/Plaxton Pointer Mk1 bodywork, in Buckingham Palace Road, Victoria, London, operating route C10. The bus appears to be having an identity crisis - with a London General logo on the front, but the London Central logo on the side, although since both companies hed been for a few years part of the same group, Go-Ahead, using the same common base livery in London of a grey skirt with yellow detail line, the discrepancy probably passed most people by. At the time the C10 was a London Central route operated with LDP class vehicles out of New Cross garage. The bus was new to London General in 1996 (as just the fourth numerically of nearly 300 LDP class Dart/Pointers for the group's London operations), so the front logo is at least authentic in some way. The side logo was probably applied when it and a few others of these early examples were transferred to London Central's Bexleyheath garage in 2003. LDP4 at least was then only ever based at Central garages (New Cross, Bexleyheath again, then New Cross again), before its eventual withdrawal and sale in April 2011. A quick search of Flickr, in particular a March 2011 image, seems to show that, quite bizarrely, LDP4 appears to have only ever had this General logo on the front while in London service, despite having legally been a Central vehicle since at least 2003. |
