Description Lot 11588-77: Middle East Activities. King George of the Hellenes in Lebanon, May 1942. When King George of the Hellenes visited Lebanon, he met President Naccache of the Lebanese Republic, General Catroux, Commander in Charge of the Free French Forces in the Levant, and Major-General Spears, British Minister to Lebanon and Syria. Men of the 5th Squadron of the Jebel Druse Regiment formed the guard of honor on one occasion, and an Australian detachment on another. Shown: A typical Druse mounted soldier in King George’s Guard of Honour. Office of War Information Photograph. (2016/02/11).
