Summary[edit]

Description Lot 2290-12: Invasion of Saipan, 15 June – 9 July 1944. Landing Vehicle Tracked (LVT), amphibious warfare vehicle. Image shows U.S. Marines digging in at Saipan in the first assault to secure the beachhead. LTVTs were designed, engineered and built by Food Machinery Corporation Division at Lakeland, Florida; Los Angeles, San Jose, and Riverside, California. Photograph donated by Food Machinery in June 1945. (8/28/2015).
