Description
Français : Le monument situé près du pont Grande-Duchesse Charlotte et consacré à la mémoire de Robert Schuman, promoteur de la construction européenne, a été élevé sur l'initiative du Conseil Luxembourgeois du Mouvement Européen. Un Comité présidé par M. Joseph Petit et représentant la Haute Autorité de la CECA, la Municipalité et le Gouvernement, fut chargé de le réaliser. Inauguré le 24 octobre 1966, en même temps que le pont et l'immeuble-tour du Kirchberg, il est l'oeuvre de l'architecte Robert Lentz. Le monument se compose pour l'essentiel d'un socle en béton portant diverses inscriptions sur ses faces, et d'un élément vertical formé de trois poutrelles Grey. Découpées à leur extrémité et se terminant par six pointes, cespoutrelles symbolisent les six pays formant la Communauté à l'époque. Les deux éléments sont reliés dans une composition d'ensemble par deux plates-formes qui les entourent.
