Identifikationsnummer: II A 925 Geographischer Bezug: Basken (Ethnie); Herkunft: Gipuzkoa, Spanien 65 x 29 x 17 cm Vorbesitzer: Dr. Fritz (Friedrich Karl Georg) Rumpf, Sammler Ausgabe: Korbgeflecht, Leder Geschicklichkeitsspiel „Pelota“, hier Spielvariante „Cesta Punta“ In Gipuzkoa wird meistens mit dem aus Weidenzweigen geflochtenem Wurfhandschuh gespielt. Diese Art Wurfhandschuh kamen erst verhältnismäßig spät in Gebrauch und stammen aus dem französischem Pay Basque. Im Anfange der 60er Jahre des IXI. Jahrhunderts benutzte Dithurbide Gantchiki? der 13 jährige Sohn eines Obstkorbflechters in St. Peé, zum Spiel ein Obstkörbchen aus der Werkstatt seines Vaters statt des Lederhandschuhs. Die Vorteile sind so groß, daß der Vater dem Sohn einen Spielhandschuh (in Form des Lederhandschuhs) aus Weidengeflecht anfertigte. Der lange gebogene Spielhandschuh in der heutigen Form wurde erst 1888 durch Melchior Curuchange in Buenos Aires erfunden.
