| Description |
English: The MSI K9MM-V is an example of the last generation of AGP motherboards, and is among the handful of boards so equipped for socket AM2. Released in 2006, it makes use of the VIA K8M800 north bridge that has been paired with the standard VT8237R+ south bridge. The product was aimed squarely at the low-end market, and the K9MM-V as a whole would have been considered dated in terms of features and performance even back then. In comparison with a contemporary competitors such as AMD's 690G, overall system responsiveness can be noticeably sluggish due to the old chipset and slower subsystems. For instance, the HyperTransport link is capped at 800 Mhz and V-Link, the proprietary data bus between north and south bridge, can deliver only up to 533 MB/s as opposed to AMD utilizing PCIe 1.1 x4 for communication between both parts. Additionally, PWM control for the CPU fan is absent and other key features such as storage (SATA controller incapable of AHCI or NCQ), integrated graphics (DX7-only UniChrome Pro with very poor 3D performance), ethernet (100 Mbit/s) and audio (low-end AC97 implementation) provide nothing more than the basics. |
