English: The M Street High School (also known as the Perry School) located at 128 M Street, NW in the Truxton Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Designed by the Office of the Building Inspector in 1890, the Romanesque building was home to one of the country's first public high schools for African-American students (founded in 1870 as the Preparatory High School for Negro Youth). On October 23, 1986 M Street High School was added to the National Register of Historic Places. |
