Summary[edit]
English: German compund steam engine system Mallet system, with four cylinders on two traction bogies and front idler built for freight trains. There is some confusion about this locomotive. It seems to be the one presented at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle. In the description of the locomotive exhibition in the Schweizerische Bauzeitung 3 March 1901 page 98, the customer mentioned is the Bavarian Railways, other sources say that a Mallet locomotive for the Bulgarian Railways was presented at the exhibition. It appears to be BDŽ 29.01, which would match the arrangement of the locomotive wheels in the photo.
