Description

MACKAY HARBOR BOARD Breakwater Finished

At yesterday's meeting of the Mackay Harbor Board, It was revealed that the capping of the breakwater with concrete had been completed at an approximate cost of £13,148, as against the original estimate of £13,775.

Present at the meeting were Messrs. C. F. Bagley (In the chair), A. S. Hamilton, J. J. Hand, J. Perry, S. H. Scougall, C. H. Westcott, and the secretary (Mr. W. D. Clark).

Mr. Bagley pointed out that the original plans for the concrete capping provided for a width of 22ft.; the Board decided, with the approval of their engineer, to widen this to 25ft. 61n., and did so 3516 cubic yards of concrete had been used. Instead of 3000 cubic yards, as first provided for. Thus it could be said that on the proportion of yardage, the job had been done for £2570 under estimated costs. Members expressed their satisfaction.
