Description
Español: Lámina del grabado compuesto por cuatro estampas independientes, hecho por Julius Milheuser (o Mülheuser), activo en Amsterdam entre 1649 y 1680. Sigue el modelo panorámico dibujado por Wyngaerde hacia 1562, presentando una imagen irreal de Madrid, pues desde el punto de vista elegido por el dibujante (las futuras "praderas de San Isidro", sería imposible tener una vista frontal de partes de la ciudad tan distantes entre sí. Las cuatro hojas de cobre (en talla dulce) se ordenan en tres planos en perspectiva; en primer término, la ribera sur del río Manzanares, y cruzando el puente, en un plano medio, las huertas de la ribera norte. Dando cuerpo a la metrópoli a lo largo de una orografía accidentada, se aprecian restos de la vieja muralla cristiana, que ya se veían en la vista de Wyngaerde, y parte de la cerca de tapial levantada con Felipe IV de España, que se conservaría hasta la segunda mitad del siglo XIX. El crecimiento de la ciudad queda representado por el Palacio del buen Retiro (con su Plaza Principal y la Ermita de san Bruno visibles). Destacan también las viejas siluetas del Alcázar, cuya perspectiva parece haberse tomado del modelo de Texeira de 1656. Han sido alteradas las distancias reales entre unos edificios y otros, así como la escala y fisonomía particular de casi todos los edificios dibujados. La vista fue editada por Frederick de Wit, en Amsterdam. Existe una vista muy similar, casi idéntica, en la Biblioteca nacional de Francia el grabado/dibujo Profil de la ville de Madrid, capitale du royaume d'Espagne, obra de Israel Silvestre (1621-1691)
