Description

Description provided by Orcas Island Historical Museum: "Madrona Inn Resort was built by the doctors Issac Marion and Agnes Harrison on Madrona Point in Eastsound. For the early part of the 1900s they were the only doctors on Orcas Island. I.M. did surgeries, and Agnes took charge of births. They retired to this property in 1907 and by 1913 had opened the Madrona Inn Resort. Twenty-four cottages were situated around the property. Eighty-five guests could be accommodated at a time. Guests stayed anywhere from a week to the whole summer. Famous people such as Bing Crosby and Mary Martin vacationed here. The Inn was managed by Max, their son, after they retired.
