| Description |
English: Magnetic domains in a single grain (outlined with a black line) of non-oriented electrical steel. The photo shows an area 0.1 mm wide. The sample was polished and photographed under Kerr-effect microscope. The polishing was not perfect - there is an angled scratch through the whole width of image (top half of the photo). The area outside of the grain has different crystallographic orientation, so the domain structure is much more complex. The arrows show the direction of magnetisation in each domain - all white domains are magnetised "up", all dark domains are magnetised "down". |
