Dunnocks (Prunella modularis) are a rare sight in the Manawatu, New Zealand and it was privilege to capture this male calling for a mate.

Description
English: This wee male dunnock (Prunella modularis) was singing his heart out for a mate on the last day of Winter at the Manawatu Esplanade Gardens while perched on a flax flower seed stem. Dunnocks were introduced from England into multiple regions of New Zealand between 1865 and 1896. The common name is Hedge Sparrow and they are a rare sight in the Manawatu, New Zealand.
