Description
English: Bembix wasp ready to go to museum, showing the head and mandibles which are positioned below the head and not projecting in front of the face.

We have seen three of these wasps which land on Scholtzia and Verticordia flowers, where they feed quickly and almost immediately fly away with a loud buzz.

There are quite a few differences between the male and female. The male has a large projection below his abdomen and has all black antennae. Female has yellow stalks on her antennae. There are no yellow markings on the top of the male thorax, where the female has yellow markings.
