[edit]DescriptionManöver Südwind der Bundeswehr (Kiel 13.782) (A1).jpg |
Deutsch: Kampfgruppe A 3 der 3. Panzerdivision (Bundeswehr) mit etwa 100 Panzern und Selbstfahrlafetten, 500 Räderfahrzeugen und rund 3.000 Soldaten im Raum Trittau und Neumünster. Im Bild eine Kolonne leichter Kampfpanzer (LeKPz) vom Typ M 41 Walker Bulldog in Trittau in Bereitschaftsstellung am 2. Okt. 1957. (Fotooriginal cropped, leicht aufgehellt).
English: Combat Group A 3 of the 3rd Armored Division (German Bundeswehr) with around 100 tanks and self-propelled guns, 500 wheeled vehicles and around 3,000 soldiers in the Trittau and Neumünster area. The picture shows a column of M 41 Walker Bulldog light battle tanks (LeKPz) on standby in Trittau, Oct 2, 1957. In the foreground, on the right, a (commercially available) VW Standard - later commonly referred to as the "Beetle" - as a liaison and command vehicle for the new Bundeswehr. In the background is a Borgward B 2000 A/O, also known in the Bundeswehr as the "Borgward Kübel u/o Kübelwagen". The tactical turret number 115 can be seen on the front M 41, but the "Black Cross or Tatzenkreuz" was not yet attached or prescribed as a nationality and sovereignty insignia for armored vehicles of the new German Bundeswehr. The LeKPz (US) M 41 Walker Bulldog (built 1950 - 1958, equipped with a 76.2 mm cannon, gross vehicle weight 25.4 t) was used in the tank destroyer platoons of the PzGrenBtl as a KanJgPz (Kanonenjagdpanzer/Hunting tank (cannon)), as well as in the PzAufklBtl as a reconnaissance tank. |
