Description

Српски (ћирилица): Манастир Ковиље се налази под планином Јавор, у селу Смиљевцу. Претпоставља се да је основан у 12. или 13. веку. Први запис о овом манастиру налази се у Крушевачком Поменику из 1606. године, из кога се види да је манастир заузимао важно место у духовном, националном и политичком животу народа овог краја. Овде је отворена једна од најстаријих школа у Србији. Манастир сачињавају два храма, старији посвећен Светим Архангелима и други који је касније саграђен, а посвећен Светом Николи. Црква Светог Архангела се једним делом наслања на стену, тако да се може сврстати у ред пећинских цркава испосничког типа. То је једнобродна грађевина са олтарском апсидом, настала највероватније крајем 12. и почетком 13. века, судећи по остацима живописа. Њен јужни зид и полуобличасти свод са малом слепом калотом президани су у обнови којом је у 17. веку дограђена црква Светог Николе.

Simple English: Kovilje Monastery is located under the mountain Javor, in the village Smiljevac. It is assumed that was founded in the 12th or 13th century. The monastery church consists of two temples, dedicated to the Holy Archangels and St. Nicholas. Church of the Holy Archangels is partly resting on the rock, so that it can be classified into cave churches.
