English: Kozhikode-based Salafi preacher recently described non-Islamic festivities like Onam and Christman as "haram", asking Muslims to refrain from participating in these celebrations.
In response, a young Muslim activist in Kerala held his very own 'Payasam' fest to celebrate the harvest festival of Onam. Not only that, some 200 people came forward to attend his fest and enjoy the sweetened rice dessert. "My smiling Onam wishes. I declare openly that if my religion would vanish by celebrating festivals, let it go," read writer-cum-activist Fais Umer's banner inviting people.മലയാളം: മുസ്‌ലിംകള്‍ ഓണാഘോഷത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നത് വിലക്കുന്ന നവസലഫി നിലപാടുകളില്‍ പ്രതിഷേധിച്ച് കുറ്റ്യാടിയില്‍ യുവാവിന്റെ പ്രതിഷേധം. കുറ്റ്യാടി സലഫി പള്ളിക്ക് തൊട്ടുമുന്നിലായി 'മാപ്പിള ഓണപ്പായസ വിതരണം' നടത്തിയായിരുന്നു പ്രതിഷേധം. എഴുത്തുകാരനും സോഷ്യല്‍ മീഡിയാ ആക്ടിവിസ്റ്റുമായ ഫായിസ് ഉമറാണ് വ്യത്യസ്തമായ പ്രതിഷേധ പരിപാടി നടത്തിയത്. നിരവധി പേര്‍ ഫായിസിന്റെ ഓണപ്പായസം കഴിക്കാനെത്തി. ഫേസ്ബുക്ക് ലൈവിലൂടെ പ്രതിഷേധം തല്‍സമയം ലോകമെങ്ങുമുള്ള നിരവധി പേരില്‍ എത്തിച്ചു.
കുറ്റ്യാടി പുതിയ ബസ്റ്റാന്റിനു സമീപമാണ് ഫായിസ് 'എല്ലാ മലയാളികള്‍ക്കും എന്റെ ചിരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഓണാശംസകള്‍' എന്ന ബാനറിനു കീഴില്‍ ഓണപ്പായസം വിതരണം നടത്തിയത്. ഓണാഘോഷത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നത് വിലക്കിയ സലഫി മസ്ജിദിലെ ഇമാമിന്റെ നടപടിയോടുള്ള പ്രതിഷേധമായാണ് പരിപാടി നടത്തിയതെന്ന് ഫായിസ് പറഞ്ഞു. ഓണംപോലുള്ള ആഘോഷങ്ങളില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നത് ഹറാമാണെന്ന് കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷം മുതല്‍ പ്രചാരണം നടത്തുന്നുണ്ട്. മനുഷ്യരെ തമ്മില്‍ അകറ്റാനുള്ള ഈ നടപടിയില്‍ പ്രതിഷേധം പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടത് അനിവാര്യമാണ്. 200ഓളം പേര്‍ പരിപാടിയില്‍ പങ്കാളികളായതായും ഫായിസ് പറഞ്ഞു. |
