English: From the Acropolis of Athens. Found near the Erechtheion in 1862, is known as the "Relief Lenormant" and is named after the archaeologist who discovered it. What remains is: the central part of a trireme with nine rowers in their posisions and the upper part of the crew. It has been estimated that the ship had a total of 20 rowers and its length was 190m. X 0.95. width. The crew on deck have included its pilot, the captain and passengers, while to the far right is seated the hero, Paralos, the discoverer of navigation. The trireme depicted on the relief is synonymous with Paralos, the sacred vessel of the Athenians who used it only on official state visits. Athens, Acropolis Museum, No. 1339.
