Summary[edit]
English: Mary's Fountain "Mary, Source of Life" in Petuelpark Munich. The Dutch sculptor Hans van Houwelingen used a late Gothic Madonna by Jakob Kaschauer from St. Mark's Church in Leobendorf/Lower Austria as a model for the 2 m high fountain figure made of Carrera marble. Drinking water flows from the left hand of the child, symbolic of the wound of the cross.
On 20 June 2004, the ecumenical consecration took place by Archpriest Apostolos Malamoussis of the Greek Orthodox Church of All Saints in the presence of the artist, representatives of the city, the spiritual dignitaries of the neighbouring Christian parishes St. Lantpert, St. Georg, Dankeskirche, Erlöserkirche and the Pfennigparade. |
