| Description |
Marinha Grande is situated some 150 km north of Lisbon, in the middle of pine forests - among which the huge (1,750 sq km) Leiria Pine Forest. MG is the capital of the glass industry in Portugal, which has been going through some painful restructuring. The town is very neat, though. These pictures are from the Parque da Cerca, a small urban park in the center of town, in what used to be kitchen gardens for the workers of the Stephens Glass Factory. The pictures were taken just a few months after the opening of the park in October 2005 and show very young trees and bushes. It should be fun to check back in a few years. |
