Description
English: Old residential building (cultural heritage monument) "Marschtorstrasse 28" in Dannenberg (Elbe); a former hospital, (re)built in 1835.
Deutsch: Denkmalgeschütztes Haus und Gelände "Marschtorstraße 28" in Dannenberg (Elbe); das Haupthaus wurde im Jahr 1835 von Grund auf neu errichtet. Es handelt sich um ein ehemaliges Hospital ("Stift St. Georg"), das zu Beginn des 17. Jahrhunderts am Rand der Stadt errichtet worden war und nach Zerstörung im Dreißigjährigen Krieg 1650 neu aufgebaut wurde. Später kamen eine Nutzung als Armenhaus sowie Schule für Kinder der umliegenden Dörfer hinzu. Eine früher auf dem Gelände auch noch vorhandene Kapelle ("St. Jürgen") wurde 1885 auf Abbruch verkauft; auch ein Friedhof befand sich hier.
