Description

La Joliette | Place de la Joliette These were the biggest European docks at that time. Their architecture is inspired by docks in St. Catherine of London and Liverpool. They were then able to store the goods from the port and then ship them by the railway. The industrial docks closed in 1988. Arch. Paulin Talabot and Gustave Desplaces 1856-66. From May 1992 the docks were gradually restored. The architect Eric Castaldi was entrusted with their transformation into office buildings. Docks are now rehabilitated in respect of a symbolic architecture. They are seats of private companies, civil services, administrative and cultural facilities. There is also the Public Establishment Euroméditerranée.
