  • Dansk: I en omtale af maleriet er det blevet kaldt "Et skib under kalfatring". Henrik Bramsen peger dog på det usandsynlige i, at så stort et skib blev lagt på stranden for at omkalfatres. Det skulle snarere forestille en ophugning af et vrag købt til samme formål for at skaffe tømmer. Se Helsted, Martinus Rørbye 1803-1848, Thorvaldsens Museum, Kbh. 1981, p. 201. Iflg. Jørgen Elsøe Jensen, Professor, dr. scient. (mail d. 24.7.2014), viser tegningen ”dog ganske tydeligt, at Ann af Sunderland er trukket på land på en midlertidig bedding, og at folk er i færd med at sætte skroget i stand. Det kunne sagtens lade sig gøre med et sådan forholds vis beskedent skib. Var der derimod tale om en ophugning, ville man begynde for oven og arbejde sig ned, ellers er et sådan skrog ikke til at skille ad.”
