Description
English: Ancient Masankali Temple located in Bhutkhel Tol, Ward No. 3, Tokha Municipality, Kathmandu District, also known as Shree Pigan Dya in Newari. In the sanctum sanctorum of this pagoda-style Masankali temple, which is located in a very wide place, there are idols of goddesses like Masankali, Navdurga, Bhairav, Kumari, Mahalakshmi, etc. This temple is also called Indrayani temple. There is also an inscription on the right and left side of the sanctum sanctorum. Which proves the ancient of the temple. The place of sacrifice in front of the temple is the lighting of lamps and swords. There is a small hole in the ground on the right side of the temple. In this hole, a religious home is held in this hole on the 1st of Baishakh, the new year of each year, and there is also a pilgrimage for 4 days. In that procession, various deities are placed in a basket and even circled around the city. On that day at least 300 kinds of grains produced in the land, one pair of fish, one pair of sparrow etc. are offered in this hole. There is a big ghost playground near this temple. In ancient times, ghosts used to dance in this square and the same ghosts have caused a lot of grief to the locals. To the right of the temple is the Bhajan Mandal and the temple committee office. There are flower gardens, gardens, parks etc. near the temple premises which has enhanced the beauty of the temple. Devotees throng this temple on various festivals. The main gate of the temple is open for the devotees till 1 o'clock on Saturday and on Tuesdays till 9 o'clock on the day of Chartudashi and Punirma.
