Description
Nederlands: Massagraf, Oude Begraafplaats, Gouda. Groep van negenenvijftig vergeten Gouwenaars, waaronder 8 kinderen, zijn begraven onder een grote ligusterhaag op de Oude Begraafplaats aan de Vorstmanstraat. Negenendertig zijn begraven zonder kist. Drie overledenen hebben een steen. Allen zijn begraven tussen 13 maart en 10 juli 1945. In 1947 en 1948 zijn er twee kinderen bijgeplaatst. De heg is waarschijnlijk geplant, om te voorkomen dat door werking van de grond, de menselijke botten naar boven zouden komen. Het bestuur van de begraafplaats wilde de vergeten Gouwenaars uit de anonimiteit halen. Door onderzoek en een inzamelingsactie, kon een plaquette met alle namen van de vergeten Gouwenaars met hun geboorte- en overlijdensdatum en 59 kleine stenen, op zaterdag 6 juni 2020 door burgemeester Verhoeve worden onthuld. Deze overledenen zijn haast zeker slachtoffers van de 2e wereldoorlog of slachtoffers ten gevolgen van de hongerwinter
