| Description |
The Maurice Bathhouse you see now opened for business on January 1, 1912, during the heyday of the bathing industry. In 1946, the peak year of business, they gave 67,587 baths. The number of bathers declined the the following decades due to the increase of medical treatment options and the Maurice managers decide to close in November 1974. They gave under 6,500 baths that year. The National Park Service is charged by Congress to "preserve af Bathhouse Row @ Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas |
